 | Bannack State Park. | When gold was discovered in Grasshopper Creek in 1862, the strike set off a massive gold rush that swelled the town’s population to over 3,000. When the gold ran out, the town died. Today, Bannack is preserved, rather than restored. Protected, rather than exploited. Over 50 buildings, weathered by the seasons, still stand making Bannack one of the best preserved of all Montana’s ghost towns. |
 | First Peoples Buffalo Jump State Park. | Prehistoric Native Americans hunted bison by driving them over the cliffs. Theirs was a spectacular — some say highly sophisticated — practice, one that captures the mind and imagination of historian and tourist alike. Ulm Pishkun may be one of the largest buffalo jump sites in the world. |
 | Yellowstone National Park. | Yellowstone National Park is a treasure that inspires awe in travelers from around the world. New Zealand and Iceland are known for geysers, but nowhere are there as many as in Yellowstone. |
 | Glacier National Park. | Glacier preserves over 1,000,000 acres of forests, alpine meadows, and lakes. Its diverse habitats are home to over 70 species of mammals and over 260 species of birds. The spectacular glaciated landscape is a hikers paradise containing 700 miles of maintained trails that lead deep into one of the largest intact ecosystems in the lower 48 states.
The park contains over 350 structures listed on the National Register of Historic Sites and six National Historic Landmarks.

 | Various Locations. | There are so many relatively unknown sites to see in Montana. In this category we have gathered just a few. As we continue to travel this "Big Sky" country, we'll be adding more photographs. |
 | Elkhorn State Park. | The residents of Elkhorn, a historic mining town of boom and bust left behind two impressive structures. Fraternity Hall and Gillian Hall have been preserved as outstanding examples of frontier architecture. During its heyday in the 1880s, the town's population reached 2,500, but the boom ended in 1899 with the drop in silver prices. |
